A lifted edge needs assessment, not a stronger top coat.
Lifting describes product separating from the natural nail. The location, timing, product, and daily wear help the salon understand what happened. A photo may show a raised edge, but it cannot reliably establish the cause or rule out a nail or skin condition.
Describe what happened and when
Tell the salon which nails are affected, whether the change started near the cuticle or free edge, and how long you have worn the set. Mention an impact, recent removal, or a product change. Do not assume every problem is caused by either the technician or the client.
Preparation and product choices deserve review
The artist can assess the existing set and discuss preparation, application, length, and maintenance. Different products have different requirements. If another salon applied the set, share its product name if possible; an ordinary fill-in may not be the right appointment.
Avoid picking at the lifted area
The AAD advises against picking gel polish or trying to remove it aggressively. Contact the salon for an appropriate correction or removal appointment. Keeping a record of when the issue began is more helpful than repeatedly trying to conceal it.
Watch for more than a cosmetic change
The FDA notes that nail products can cause reactions. Pain, swelling, a rash, or an unexplained nail change deserves medical advice rather than another coating. A manicure service should not be presented as treatment for a suspected infection or allergy.
Plan a practical maintenance routine
